Practical Technologies, LLC was founded by Louis A. Duplessis. Louis has worked over 40 years in various manufacturing positions. The early part of his career was in quality control. He worked as a machinist for almost a decade, but has spent most of his career working as a production engineer. He has specialized in the design of various production tools that increased production and improved quality. Louis has also specialized in automation and designed dozens of pick and place machines, as well as robots.

Louis has been an avid woodworker from the age of 11 and has always had a passion for woodworking as a hobbyist. It was very natural for him to combine his love of woodworking and his ability to design tools and fixtures into his projects. It was Louis' need for some round window trim that led him to design his first circle cutting jig. Because of the size and complexity of the job, he needed a very rigid tool that could be easily adjusted to the different radii required and yet be extremely accurate. Being a machinist, it was natural for him to use the same techniques in woodworking that he used in the metal trade. The tool Louis has designed worked so well that, when compared with other products on the market, he found his circle jig to be more rigid, more accurate and a better value than the other available tools . Using his 40 years of experience, Louis felt the need to bring high quality useful tools that are not only practical, but also a great value to the market.
