Recently I purchased a few books about successful people to learn and study the techniques that they used to achieve their success. After reading a few of the books I began to see patterns of behavior that are really quite simple. As I read their stories, they were saying things I have heard many times and probably dismissed them by saying that’s not for me. Now that I’m older I realize that I may have made some snap decisions that were wrong.

One book in particular by a national best selling author Robert G. Allen made a lot of sense and I saw no reason not to begin using some of the principles he was discussing in his book even though I’m retired. Prosperous people have always known this. If one stream dries up they have many more to tap into for support. Another trait I saw in these successful people was their ability to TAKE ACTION when opportunities crossed their path.

Consider for a moment, the unemployment rate is hovering around 10%. Most of these unemployed people were totally dependent on one source of income, their job. How many have lost their homes, cars and their saving accounts just trying to get by? If they had multiple streams of income this could have been prevented. With today's economy and our government's attitude toward spending your money you should be thinking of your future. Will you have the money to do what you need to do? Will you be able to get your family everything you wish them to have? Do you exist from paycheck to paycheck? Do you have quality time to spend with your loved ones? No? Then it is time to diversify your income streams and take back your piece of the American dream. Diversifying is simply a way to increase your income while you continue to do what you know and love. The time to do it is while you are still employed; otherwise it’s too late.

Mr. Allen focused on what he called the three Money Mountains, the investment mountain, the real estate mountain and the marketing mountain. He has extensive experience in all these areas and although they are all important he particularly liked marketing, especially Internet marketing and Network marketing. Wouldn’t that be nice? This is the simple theory of network marketing.

Businesses today spend up to 50% of the price of their goods on advertising and marketing. But the returns from newspapers, magazines, and radio and to some degree television adds are not returning the results they did before the Internet came into play. Those of us who send and forward emails, use the Internet to shop and use the search engines are the target market for advertisers but we never receive compensation for using these feature.
